The Landfillart Project began in 2007 with the idea of taking forty-one old hub caps and transforming them into forty-one works of art. Since then, project founder Ken Marquis has acquired an additional 1,000 reclaimed hub caps, added over six hundred artists to the project, from 34 states in the United States, and 27 countries worldwide. The project continues to grow with new artists being added to the project that is slated to be completed in 2012. Ultimately, the project will culminate in a traveling show and accompanying book that shows the global art community's effort to positively impact the environment through repurposing previous metal waste into great landfillart.
