"Uncle John had some squash seeds from Great Grandma Schertz. Besides being lovely, they are full of family history. I coveted them and have used them throughout the years as precious gems. This is one of the first pieces I made when I moved to Albuquerque from Boston and was trying to get going in the studio (i.e. maintenance shed) again. The photo is from a series B. Mann took of my eye. Several large pieces were made at that time, all using eye imagery of some sort."
